We’re keen gardeners here at the Railway Inn, and love to cheer up the front of the pub with flowers and greenery. Nasturtiums are a favourite because they match our orange parasols, and we save the seeds each year from last year’s flowers, dry them and sow them the following year. We also use these lovely edible flowers to add a splash of colour to our salads and boards. Their peppery flavour is delicious. You’ll also spot gorgeous yellow sunflowers just starting to come into bloom which we also grow from last year’s saved seeds.

We have an allotment in the village where we grow vegetables which we use to prepare dishes at the pub. We grow whatever we can to put on your plates, and this year you may have sampled our broad beans, salad leaves, soft fruits, herbs and courgettes. There will soon be French beans and squashes, with cabbages, leeks and broccoli in the winter.
